A varied plate, without making meals an exam
Build simple meals around familiar ingredients, variety and the pleasure of eating.

When you return to activity, food can quickly become another list of rules. Before searching for a perfect menu, consider what makes meals workable: your tastes, budget, available ingredients and the time you can spend cooking.
One guide: variety
The World Health Organization describes a varied diet including vegetables, fruit, pulses, whole grains and nuts. It notes that individual needs, food customs and local availability differ. This general guidance does not prescribe your personal menu.
Start with a meal you enjoy
Choose a dish you already know how to prepare. Consider ways to vary its ingredients during the week: a different vegetable, another pulse or a fruit you like. The aim is a usable collection of meals, without redesigning your whole routine every time you cook.
A plate of rice, beans and vegetables can be one example of straightforward cooking. It is not a compulsory menu or a universal portion. Your quantities and adaptations depend on your circumstances.
Prepare your questions before travelling
For a stay, write down what the team needs to know: allergies, dietary requirements, preferences and questions about meals. Ask how these are handled before confirming your dates. A photograph of a plate cannot replace that conversation.
You can also note what you would like to bring home: a recipe, a clearer shopping list or time to enjoy a meal without rushing. These are ideas for organising daily life, rather than targets to meet perfectly every day.
At Phoenix, the table is part of the welcome being planned. Ask the team your questions to understand what is proposed and what can be adapted for your stay.
